About me
About Me
My name is Helen. I am 24 year old, self taught and full time artist who started creating jewellery in June 2019. I am half Greek, half Scottish, but I was brought up in London (everyone asks me why I have a London accent but I live in Scotland with my family now).
My journey first started when I was backpacking in South East Asia January - April 2019, when I came across a small pair of fork and spoon earrings in a shop in Vietnam. I bought them and I loved the uniqueness of them. When I got back the the U.K. I quit my sales job, bought equipment and materials and started to self teach myself jewellery making.
I studied Industrial Design and Technology at university, however I didn't know that making jewellery was going to be my path. I love exploring new ideas and am very happy I have found my creative channel. I moved out of my bedroom in September and converted it into workshop - this is where I run my business from. I did not think the day that I walked out of my sales job that day that I would be where I am today!
I have always had a fascination for design concepts for festivals and other events - in late 2018 I took a Stage Design course at the Tron Theatre and worked as a production runner BBC Children In Need car fest to explore my options. Making jewellery was a big change to me at first as I have always been into modeling and graphic design.
The name of my business was inspired by what my friends would call me in school “Melon”. All products are hand made from scratch, from my computer, to print, to varnish, sanding, drilling, polishing - I put ALOT of hours into making just the one spoon so the prices on my website are based on my daily rate.
I enjoy interacting with customers - this is my favorite part about my job. If you check out my “Competitions” and “Gallery” pages you can read up on my LEGO treasure hunts, see what artists I have designed for and my spin off online competitions.
Although I am based in Glasgow I do make regular trips down south to Manchester, London, Brighton and Bristol. You can keep up to date on my socials to check where I am and if am holding any competitions at events near you or if I have a stall at events!
I have many more design concepts and products up my sleeve and I am very thankful for all the support I have had so far with my business. I knew that when i went travelling something was going to change in my life - I HIGHLY recommend travelling as it has really helped me find a path in life.
